'Time' slams Trump's family separation policy in a cover for the ages

'Time' slams Trump's family separation policy in a cover for the agesThe debate over the Trump administration's immigration policy is still simmering, and the blowback continues to hit Trump — this time in the form of yet another
Time magazine cover.  The new cover combines a photo of the president with the now-iconic image taken by Getty Images' John Moore of a little girl sobbing while her mother is searched by border agents, something of a symbol of the pushback against the separation of children from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border. TIME’s new cover: A reckoning after Trump's border separation policy: What kind of country are we? t.co/U4Uf8bffoR pic.twitter.com/sBCMdHuPGc — TIME (@TIME) June 21, 2018 Driving home the point: the image of Trump they chose for the face-off is one that seems to display the callous indifference that he and his supporters have shown thus far in the debate. Likewise, the cover story, "A Reckoning After Trump's Border Separation Policy: What Kind of Country Are We?" by Karl Vick, doesn't mince words about what it sees as the eroding of our traditional norms and values by the current president.  Even though Trump has now signed an executive order that should, for the time being, prevent such separations, there are still serious issues that remain, including reuniting families already separated by the heinous policy as well as what the Trump administration's long game is.  Still, we know how much Trump loves his
Time covers and this one is certainly worthy of our current president.  WATCH: Sarah Huckabee Sanders' most ludicrous moments as press secretary

Elon Musk weighs in on Trump's immigration policy with a very uninspiring tweet

Elon Musk weighs in on Trump's immigration policy with a very uninspiring tweetBillionaire Elon Musk has a way of kicking up a storm on Twitter from time to time, and he did it again on Tuesday morning by weighing in on Trump's widely condemned policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.  SEE ALSO: 7 activist groups supporting families at the border that need your help right now Musk tweeted a link to the song "Shelter" by the xx and then followed that up with a rather noncommittal, "I hope the kids are okay." Shelter t.co/bLVrv0WpJb — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 19, 2018 I hope the kids are ok — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 19, 2018 The "kids" Musk is talking about became a bit more clear in subsequent tweets.   I couldn’t even keep the US in the Paris Accord, but if there is some way for me to help these kids I will do so — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 19, 2018 Where are they? — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 19, 2018 Suffice to say, no, the kids are not ok — just as some of his followers pointed out. They're very much not alright. In another tweet in the exchange, Musk — who was born in South Africa and came to the U.S. during college — says he's "enquiring on many channels" about the detainment camps. What exactly he plans to do, if anything, though isn't detailed. He did take a moment to both mention he's a top donor to the ACLU and supports their work, while pointing out that he doesn't necessarily support them on every single issue.  The ACLU confirmed that Musk is, indeed, a "top donor" but didn't offer any other details. I am one of the top donors to @ACLU — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 19, 2018 Just because I donate doesn’t mean I support every last thing a person or organization does, but I like all the people I’ve met from @ACLU. They really care about doing good. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 19, 2018 At least he's moved on from attacking the media and is using his platform to bring attention to a national crisis. But it remains to be seen if he'll take more meaningful action, like joining his followers at protest march. WATCH: A Tesla Model X just pulled a gigantic Boeing airplane like it's nothing
