PARIS (Reuters) – French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Edouard Philippe's approval ratings hit new lows as the "yellow vest" protests gathered pace, according to an Ifop-Fiducial poll for Paris Match and Sud Radio published on Tuesday. Macron's approval rating fell to 23 percent in the poll conducted late last week, down six points on the previous month. Philippe's rating fell 10 points to 26 percent. Hong Kong rattled as 5.7 quake hits off Taiwan
A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck off the western coast of Taiwan Monday, the US Geological Survey said, and was felt hundreds of kilometres away in Hong Kong. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake, which the USGS had initially reported at 5.6-magnitude. Residents in the city of Magong on Penghu island ran outside screaming “earthquake” after the tremor hit, Taiwan media reported.
6.4-magnitude earthquake hits western Iran: Iran institute
A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Iran’s western province of Kermanshah late Sunday, Iran’s institute of geophysics said. The epicentre of the quake was 17 kilometres southwest of the city of Sarpol-e Zahab, according to the institute, which said it struck at a depth of 7 kilometres. At least 115 were injured in Sarpol-e Zahab and the neighbouring Gilan-e Gharb city where the quake was also felt, Kermanshah governor Houshang Bazvand told Fars news agency.

Digital media campaign spending rose 2,400 percent from the 2014 midterms to $ 1.8 billion, roughly 20 percent of the total $ 8.9 billion in ad spending, according to preliminary estimates from the research firm Borrell Associates. China's yuan hits decade low on trade, economy fears
The Chinese yuan weakened to a decade low on Tuesday on concerns over China’s slowing economy and the US trade war, but Beijing was expected to prevent it breaking the psychologically important 7 yuan per dollar barrier. Breaking 7 could further undermine market confidence and potentially trigger fresh US accusations that China was allowing the yuan to weaken to blunt the impact of tariffs that Washington has imposed on Chinese goods. A weaker yuan makes Chinese exports less expensive overseas, ameliorating some of the higher costs brought by the tariffs.
