Fox News pundit complains about Ilhan Omar quoting Trump's 'grab 'em by the p****' remark

Fox News pundit complains about Ilhan Omar quoting Trump's 'grab 'em by the p****' remarkA Fox News pundit has complained that Ilhan Omar used profanity when quoting Donald Trump in response to a series of racist tweets he directed at the Democratic congresswoman.Dana Perino, a former White House secretary under George W Bush, defended Mr Trump’s original statements and argued that he “didn’t make them on live television at five o’clock”. Ms Perino was referring to a number of the US president's controversial remarks quoted by Ms Omar, including the "grab 'em by the p****" line he said in an interview with Access Hollywood in 2005. Ms Omar also quoted Mr Trump reportedly saying last year that people were coming to the US from "s***hole countries". It came after the US president tweeted at the weekend that some Democratic congresswomen should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came”.While the US president did not name the targets of his attack, the context of his tweet made it clear it was aimed at a group of four progressive Democratic women of colour known as “the squad”.The four – Ms Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley – spoke out against Mr Trump’s remarks at a press conference in Washington on Monday.Ms Omar claimed that the US president’s racist attacks were a “distraction” from more important issues and sought to divide Americans."This is a president who has ultimately violated the very value our country aspires to uphold," she said."To distract from that, he is launching a blatantly racist attack on four duly-elected members of the United States House of Representatives, all of whom are women of colour."Mr Omar, who was falsely accused by Mr Trump of being both antisemitic and a supporter of Al Qaeda, said the US president had adopted the agenda of white nationalists. "This is a president who has said 'grab women by the p****,'" she added. "This is a president who has called black athletes 'sons of b****es'. This is a president who has called people who come from black and brown countries 'sh**holes.' This is a president who has equated neo-Nazis with those who protest against them in Charlottesville."However, in a discussion of the congresswomen’s impassioned rebuke of the US president on Fox News, pundit Ms Perino said: “Can we also mention the profanity?”In response, one of Ms Perino’s co-hosts, said: “They can argue, well that’s what Trump said. So I’m going to say it.”“But he didn’t say it on live television at 5 o’clock in the afternoon,” Ms Perino added.“These are things that they’re quoting from other places. He didn’t say it on television,”The co-host then added: “This is from the only person on The Five who ever swore," referring to Ms Perino, who said the word “a**hole” in a live recording of the weekly Fox News talk show in response to a video of an alligator in a convenience store. In his latest round of tweets Mr Trump has demanded an apology from the Democratic congresswomen targeted by his racist comments. He doubled down on his “go back home” remarks in front of reporters in the White House, adding: “If you’re not happy here, then you can leave”.

Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade Complains That Calling Trump a Racist ‘Is Personally Offensive’

Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade Complains That Calling Trump a Racist ‘Is Personally Offensive’The morning after the House of Representatives voted to condemn President Trump’s racist comments against a group of Democratic congresswomen of color, Fox & Friends’ Brian Kilmeade complained that it is “personally offensive” to call the president a racist.Discussing Tuesday’s chaos on the House floor when Republicans logged parliamentary objections against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for reading the title of the resolution—which labels the president a racist—Kilmeade sided clearly with the GOP.Noting that Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) at one point abandoned the chair as speaker pro tempore during Tuesday’s debate, over the lack of civility, Kilmeade then brought up Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) filing a complaint against Pelosi.“Congressman Collins is going by the manual of parliamentary practice that Thomas Jefferson put into play, which is a person is not supposed to use language personally offensive to the president,” the Fox & Friends co-host declared. He then offered his own personal thoughts on the matter.“I believe calling the president a racist is personally offensive but that’s just my judgment and the manual also said that members cannot accuse the president of having made bigoted or racist statements,” Kilmeade exclaimed. “So therefore, precedent set, Collins is 100 percent right.”Interestingly, while the Fox News personality feels it is derogatory and insulting to call the president racist for telling women of color to “go back” to where “they came” from, Kilmeade didn’t seem to have any issues when Glenn Beck said then-President Obama was a racist during a Fox & Friends appearance in 2009—an appearance that featured Kilmeade on the curvy couch.Kilmeade, meanwhile, has had plenty of racially questionable moments in the past. In 2017, he asked black colleague Harris Faulkner whether she was also going to make Kool-Aid during a Fox & Friends cooking segment, resulting in Faulkner confronting him afterwards. He also groused back in 2009 that Americans don’t have “pure genes” like people in Sweden because “we keep marrying other species and other ethnics.”Read more at The Daily Beast.Got a tip? Trump complains aides he hired are trying to push him into war with Iran, says report: 'It's so disgusting'

Trump complains aides he hired are trying to push him into war with Iran, says report: 'It's so disgusting'Donald Trump has reportedly complainted that his closest advisers “want to push [the US] into a war” with Iran, following his decision to cancel military strikes against the Islamic Republic.“These people want to push us into a war, and it’s so disgusting,” the US president said about his inner circle of aides, according to The Wall Street Journal.“We don’t need any more wars.”Mr Trump is said to have made the remarks about his administration officials to a confidant, in a private conversation on Friday. The 73-year-old chose to hire hawkish aides such as John Bolton, his national security adviser, who is a longtime advocate of regime change in Iran.Mike Pompeo, the US secretary of state, also advocates hardline positions against the Middle Eastern country. But the president abruptly cancelled planned military strikes on three Iranian targets on Thursday. He claimed he did so after learning that 150 people would be killed in the strikes, which were planned in response to Iran shooting down an unmanned US drone.Tehran claims the drone was struck above its own waters, while the US argues that it was attacked above international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz.US military forces launched a cyber attack against Iran’s army computer systems on Thursday in response to the drone’s loss.Tensions between the US and Iran have steadily been rising over oil tanker attacks in the strait, for which the US believes Iran is responsible.Mr Trump told White House reporters on Saturday that he disagreed with his team over Iran.“John Bolton is doing a good job, but he takes generally a tough posture,” he said.“The only one that matters is me.”The president also discussed Mr Bolton’s support of the Iraq war and told reporters the conflict had been a big mistake.Mr Trump also said that unspecified new sanctions would be enforced against Iran on Monday but struck a softer tone when discussing the diplomatic crisis.“The fact is we’re not going to have Iran have a nuclear weapon,” he said.“And when they agree to that, they are going to have a wealthy country, they’re going to be so happy and I’m going to be their best friend.”

Trump complains US troops at border 'can't get a little rough, like they would normally'

Trump complains US troops at border 'can't get a little rough, like they would normally'Donald Trump has complained that US border troops cannot “get a little rough” with migrants because “everybody would go crazy”.The president lamented that his military “can’t act like they would normally act” by being heavy-handed with refugee families. He blamed “horrible laws that Democrats will not change” and said he was considering deploying more troops to the Mexico border to stop migrants attempting to cross into the US.Speaking to reporters in Texas, Mr Trump said: “I’m going to have to call up more military."But our military, don’t forget, can’t act like a military would act because if they get a little rough, everybody would go crazy. So our military can’t act like they would normally act, or let’s say another military from another country would act.“We have all these horrible laws that the Democrats will not change, they won’t change them. And I think they are going pay a very big price in 2020 for all of the things. I think the border is going to be an incredible issue.”Mr Trump went on to depict migrants – many of whom have fled poverty, violence or persecution in Latin America – as criminals who would murder Americans and steal their homes. He said: “Think of these people – supposing I said, let’s have an open border – they will flood your houses, they will shoot you, they’ll take over your house, they’ll take your car and they’ll probably stay there.”Mr Trump plans to aggressively push for tougher screening that will make it far more difficult for migrants fleeing persecution in their home countries to secure asylum in the US, a senior administration official said this week. The president is reportedly also considering resuming the controversial policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the border. He has purged senior immigration officials in the Department of Homeland Security as he seeks to take it in a "tougher direction".

Family complains that Catholic priest used teen's funeral to condemn suicide

Family complains that Catholic priest used teen's funeral to condemn suicideThe parents of a teenage boy who took his own life have condemned a Catholic priest who questioned whether their son would get to heaven while presiding over his funeral. The Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit expressed regret for the comments and said the Rev Don LaCuesta would not preach at funerals "for the foreseeable future". But the parents of Maison Hullibarger said they wanted the priest removed from his post for the heartbreak caused. "We wanted him to celebrate how Maison lived, not how he died," his mother, Linda Hullibarger, told The Detroit Free Press. Jeff Hullibarger added: "It was his time to tell everybody what he thought of suicide, (and) we couldn't believe what he was saying. “He was up there condemning our son, pretty much calling him a sinner. He wondered if he had repented enough to make it to heaven. He said 'suicide' upwards of six times. They said they met the priest ahead of the service at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Temperance, Michigan, on December 8, setting out what they hoped to hear in a loving homily. However, the Catholic Church has traditionally taught that suicide was an unforgiveable sin. It has only been in recent years that the stance has softened to forgive suicide in situations of extreme stress. The Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit apologised and said Mr LaCuesta would be removed from funeral duties and given extra assistance. "We share the family’s grief at such a profound loss. Our hope is always to bring comfort into situations of great pain, through funeral services centered on the love and healing power of Christ," it said in a statement. "Unfortunately, that did not happen in this case. We understand that an unbearable situation was made even more difficult, and we are sorry."
