Conor McGregor’s violent attack sets off commenters

Conor McGregor’s violent attack sets off commenters“I think we’ve found McGregor’s most formidable opponent … himself.” “Seems he got lots of press, mission accomplished.” Commenters are not impressed by UFC fighter Conor McGregor’s latest headline-making stunt.

On Thursday, the MMA star found himself in some serious hot water after attacking a bus full of fellow UFC fighters. McGregor, along with about 20 of his friends, were seen throwing objects at the bus. One fighter was cut by broken glass. McGregor turned himself in to police and was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief.

Could this be the end of McGregor’s controversial career? Don’t be surprised if it is, writes Yahoo Sports expert Kevin Iole in a post generating thousands of reactions.

Some Newsroom readers think the incident was staged by an attention-seeking McGregor. Others feel the flamboyant fighter has crossed a line: “Conor will be liable. Being stripped will be a secondary issue now.”

McGregor tweeted his own fighting words: “You’ll strip me of nothing.” He’s had a history of out-of-control behavior, but is this the final straw?

‘Time to join the NRA.’ Calls to repeal the Second Amendment set off commenters

‘Time to join the NRA.’ Calls to repeal the Second Amendment set off commenters“Everyone has an opinion, thankfully we have the constitution.” “I can think of fewer things that would create a state of open rebellion in the United States.” Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens’s call for a repeal of the Second Amendment has Newsroom readers up in arms.

In a New York Times op-ed piece, Stevens said March for Our Lives protesters asking for gun law reform should ask for more: “They should demand a repeal of the Second Amendment.”

The vast majority of the thousands of Newsroom comments on the Yahoo News report show strong opposition: “I have never owned a gun in my life, but fully understand the importance of the Second Amendment.”

President Trump, meanwhile, completely dismissed Stevens’s call to repeal, tweeting, “The Second Amendment will never be repealed!”

The Second Amendment says: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Stevens called for the repeal in order to weaken the National Rifle Association. The NRA answered back with its own statement: “We will unapologetically continue to fight to protect this fundamental freedom.”

‘Ewww’: Commenters react to Stormy Daniels interview details

‘Ewww’: Commenters react to Stormy Daniels interview details“Yikes. That’s all I got to say. Yikes.” “What a joke this country has become.” Stormy Daniels gave some details of her alleged affair with President Trump, and Newsroom commenters are cringing.

Stephanie Clifford, aka Stormy Daniels, told her side of the story to Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes. Daniels didn’t hold back much — actually, she gave viewers intimate details. The adult-film star said she had unprotected sex with Trump once in July 2006 after meeting him at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Calif., and going to his hotel room. She also said she spanked him in a "joking manner."

The one revelation that left Newsroom readers with their jaws on the floor is when Daniels said Trump told her she reminded him of his daughter Ivanka. “So she spanks him and that makes her remind him of his daughter? TMI. Seriously.” Another wrote, “They have one thing in common, no respect for Melania.”

The White House has denied allegations that Trump and Daniels had an affair. Daniels’s lawyer said she has a "litany of more evidence" to back her story.
