Birth Control Linked With Higher Glaucoma Risk

Birth Control Linked With Higher Glaucoma RiskLong-term use of birth control pills could double your risk of glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness, according to a new study. Taking oral contraceptives for at least three years was associated with a 2.05 times higher risk of being diagnosed with glaucoma, found researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, Duke University School of Medicine and the Third Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. It's important to note that the study merely showed an association, and does not prove that taking oral birth control causes glaucoma.
